 | Tausif, in his own words... | | During my job search, I have received numerous compliments of late for my resume. I have received compliments like "It's the best resume I've seen!" from 60+ CEOs and Managing Directors of multinationals and also local Australian businesses. Thanks for an excellent job. Tausif, Technical Sales & Business Development | | | Success for us, means delighted clients; clients like Yury... | As the completion of this part of my search for new job draws near I would like to thank you for what you have done for me. I always believed that a good job – any job – can only be done by people who are professional and well trained. The perfect job on the other hand takes more than that. I guess it takes a talent or a gift to do it a notch higher than good. Today I put two documents side by side – my old resume and one you have written. The difference is overwhelming. It is a pleasure to see a talented professional at work. It is an added bonus when I am direct beneficiary of such work. Keep it up. You’re great. Yury, IT Manager, Infrastructure | | | Ben, International Business Specialist is impressed... | I am very impressed with how punchy, hard hitting and concise it is. Through our brief but productive collaboration I have learnt an enormous amount about selling myself. The comprehensiveness of your questionnaire, bits of advice and suggestions have opened up my eyes in recognizing how to sell myself to employers, and bring out the nuances and shades of meaning that really paint a positive, attractive proposition to a resume-weary HR manager. Ben, International Business Specialist | | | | Luke would like to say... | FABULOUS! I went with my gut feeling about your cutting edge professionalism and you have shone through. Smashing! in your face stuff. I will be recommending your talents to all and sundry. Luke, Senior Special Events Manager | | | | | | | Words of excitement from Jason... | Thank you for everything Gayle, you're a true inspiration for those of us that were/are "floundering". Not only have you presented an exceptional product, you managed to do so with unequalled professionalism and real "dedication to the cause". When I'm successful with my "new toy" you'll be the first to know, I promise. Jason, Commercial Accounts Manager
| | Leonie: In the past she undersold herself... | What do I say Gayle! You are an absolute legend! Never in my life have I seen myself presented so well, and sound like such a catch! I love what you have done. I am really not used to selling myself, so I have to get used to the fact that, actually, I can do all of the things I have said I can do and they are now put in a certain way, rather than underselling myself, which I do ALL the time. I knew it would be, but I just wanted to say, my resume is worth every cent I have paid. Leonie, Marketing/PR | | | Jennie had to choose between two employers! | Thank you so much for the great job that you did on my resume last month. I managed to obtain interviews with three different estate agents, and have been working a week at one of those. (I was successful with two!) Jennie
| David doubled his salary and increased his commission! | I'd also like to mention that with your help making me look as professional as I possibly could, I was able to almost double my basic salary as well as increase my commission a further 50% as well. Not only that, they clearly see management material in me as well now and are starting me as the 'number 2' in my department as well as putting me on the fast track with training to make me the sole manager in the IT department later on. All in a completely new business for where I have no direct experience in at all yet! David | | |

How does the process work? What happens when and how long does it all take? What ways can I use my career web portfolio to help me succeed? There are seven main ways your career web portfolio can provide the "wow" factor in elevating your professional profile as the chart below shows. Networking, Leads, Phone Calls, Appointment Scheduling, Meetings, Interviews, and throughout the Job Offer phase.
[Back to Top] What won't a Web Portfolio do for me? | Having your career portfolio on the Internet will not generate leads for you by itself. To protect your privacy, we do not submit your portfolio website to the Internet search engines. There is nothing preventing you from doing so if you wish to. But just having a web presence will not magically draw leads to you from cyberspace. The only way people will see your site is by you promoting it in your career marketing campaign. | | Having a career portfolio will not open doors for you by itself. Your resume, broadcast letter, or networking contact is the door opener with recruiters and hiring authorities. Your website can help solidify a recruiter's initial interest into a telephone interview, but your credentials themselves must ignite the initial curiosity. | | A career web portfolio is not a substitute for excellent interviewing skills. You will focus your telephone and personal interviews primarily on your prospect and their business needs. When the conversation comes around to you and your abilities, you can use your web portfolio to quickly and impressively illustrate your talents and accomplishments. But, the primary determining factors for your success will still be how well your skills match the company's needs, and how well you interview. If you are running a close race with another candidate, the web portfolio can put you a nose ahead, but you still have to run the overall race like a winner. |
[Back to Top] How can I market myself using my web portfolio? | Put your website URL everywhere: Get that web site address in front of potential employers, interviewers and networking colleagues. | | When you email your resume, always direct the recipient to your career web portfolio. E.g., “For your convenience, my resume is attached in MS Word and pasted below in text. You can also visit my career web portfolio to view my resume as well as additional information on my experience and skills. Thank you for your consideration.” | | When you prepare a cover letter to accompany your resume, be sure to add a closing section that mentions your career web portfolio. E.g., “My resume is enclosed, however, you can also view it online along with additional information regarding my experience, accomplishments and strengths at www.myresume-online.com/johnsmith. | | Prepare, or have printed, business cards, which present your web portfolio address along with traditional contact information. You don’t have to have a company or a job to have a business card—you just have to have a need to market yourself. Take advantage of this mini-billboard and also list your area(s) of expertise. E.g., “John Smith, Project Management Professional”. You can typically purchase business cards very inexpensively (we recommend Martin Print—click here), or prepare them yourself on the computer using perforated business card paper. You should be able to find business card stationery at any of the larger retailers. Always make a point of exchanging your card at networking events, and including them with follow up letters. | | Add your career web portfolio URL to your email signature line. Make your signature sell you whenever you send email, communicate on chat boards or send job search communiqué. | | Include your career web portfolio URL in the contact information on your resume, cover letter, follow up / thank you letter and any other documents. |
[Back to Top] Can I change the layout and visuals? During the development phase you are afforded two chances to review the website and make sure that the content and positioning of audio and personal pictures are to your liking. You may request changes to content, images, and audio placement during that time. Any changes requested after these two reviews are chargeable at an hourly rate. In terms of the templates, copyright constraints by the designer/owner of the original template prohibit any alterations in terms of design and colour. Therefore it is in your best interests to choose a template you like "as is" at the time of selection. At the conclusion of the project you will be provided with all files on a CD. If you have the capabilities and the software, you are free to amend/publish to another site if you wish. [Back to Top] I would like to have my own domain name, eg: www.johnsmith.com can you do that? Yes we can arrange a domain name for you. Website portfolios are hosted on our own site myresume-online.com for 12 months and the website URL is for example: www.myresume-online/johnsmith/. However we are happy to arrange a domain name for you and we will take care of all the background administration. A quotation will be provided for this service. For cost-effectiveness, we suggest a "dot com" or "dot net" rather than "dot com dot au" or "dot net dot au" extension. Please note: not all domain names you request will be available. It may not be possible to purchase johnsmith dot com but it may be possible to receive john_smith dot com, or johnsmith_resume dot com. We'll consult you on the availability of dot coms as the process gets underway. You will also receive notification at the conclusion of 12 months whether you would like to renew either the dot com or the hosting services. [Back to Top] I already have a personal website provided by my ISP, can you use that? Technically, it is a possibility. You would need to check if your Internet Service Provider (eg BigPond, Optus, IHug, IPrimus etc) offers "FrontPage Server Extensions" as part of their personal website deal, which is what we need for our websites to work properly. More significantly, it would mean that you would have to provide us with your username and password so we can upload your site. Of course we are above reproach and highly trustworthy, but we would have to advise against this practice in general. The fewer that know your log in details, the better. Best to leave your ISP website for a personal family site, and make a distinction between your professional and personal lives. [Back to Top] What happens at the end of my 12 months service? Your domain name and hosting service will expire at the end of 12 months. We will send an email to you warning that this is going to happen around a month before. If you decide not to renew, the domain name will simply be returned to the world-wide web for future sale to someone else, and your web portfolio will be deleted from our servers. If on the other hand you want to continue, we will send a 7-day invoice for continuation of both services. You can, if you wish, also take the opportunity to update your content with anything new that has occurred over the previous twelve months. Just advise, and we'll arrange an update quotation for you. [Back to Top] Can I get a refund if I don't like it or change my mind? If you are unhappy with any aspect of the web portfolio, we will bend over backwards to make you happy. A service such as this is not like a faulty refrigerator or broken TV. Hours and hours of intensive personal labour as well as purchases from our suppliers, make this a non-refundable item. Make sure you want it before you purchase. [Back to Top] How does the process work? What happens when and how long does it all take? We project manage the entire process so you don't have to. After you receive, and accept our quotation, you then make your payment on our secure server. Next, you send us your existing resume in Microsoft Word. Gayle will review the document and send you a list of in-depth questions so that your online presence can demonstrate that "wow" factor with content rich wording, and achievement-based solutions. While this process is in motion, you will be asked to select a web template that you like. Gayle will discuss the content—do you want to provide your own audio and do you have a professional photo for your site? When the site has been developed, you will be sent the URL for the first of two reviews. You will provide a list of changes, and when done the last viewing will be provided for you to ensure everything you requested has been done. The process takes around 2-3 weeks and we know you'll love it! [Back to Top] |
